NY settings is I think pretty realistic. NY itself is old and packed with people. They do not have the space to create something like in Miami. They just have to make do with whatever building they can get their hands on and just go from there.
Las Vegas lab is pretty dark most of the time. I don't see windows facing outside even in Grissom's office.
I like NY better than Miami. But then it's too early to tell how NY will compare with LV. I like how they explain the evidence in LV. I don't get that in Miami.
Miami is just all action...choppy details....Horatio with that stupid pose all the time...just not natural. NY is not focusing on the cases though. It's more about the development of the characters.

I love CSI:Miami (and I'm from the Netherlands). I truely think Horatio is cool, and Ryan Wolfe rules. I just got hooked onto the CSI's and Miami was my fav untill I bough the both seison 2 boxes of the original CSI. But Miami is still cool in my book.

I think that Miami is okay, but not nearly as good as the original. Admittedly, I started watching Miami and only caught onto the original much later, but LV grew on me and now I prefer it immensly. But Miami is alright, I suppose. (note: I haven't seen the third season yet, so remarks are based on season 1 and most of 2)
The main thing that I think is missing from CSI Miami is character development. AKA Calleigh and Horatio are the only characters who have ANY personality/backstory/life. And Horatio's life consists of: Ray, Yelana(ray's wife), Suzie(ray's girlfriend), Madeline(ray's child), or Ray's murder. Anyone else seeing a pattern here? Calleigh, on the other hand, rocks. As the only character with a personality that doesn't make me want to kill them, Calleigh is probably the main reason that I watch CSI Miami at all (well, that and my general CSI withdrawl when I finish up a season of the regular). And maybe it is just me but Delco and Speed (yes, i'm aware that he dies) have NO personality whatsoever.
But don't get me wrong, I like Miami, and would rather watch it than no CSI at all, but after seeing a couple of seasons of CSI(LV), it seems kinda flat in comparison.
As for NY(everyone seems to be throwing this in here as a comparison, so...), the one episode I saw was nothing wonderful, but then again, it was while I was in the hospital...

Miami does lack character development. I did love the entire Raymond-story, but they totally ruined that now. And I personally do think Speedle had a personality, that's why I liked him so much. He and Calleigh kind of stood out with their good personalities.

Don't bet on the no kleenx thing, Doreen. I've seen it three times and I cried every time. Btw, the episode name is "Lost Son." It's the third season premiere.

CSI: LV is the best by far, but I seem to like CSI: Miami, but they tried to make exact copies from the CSIs of the original show, you can easily tell who is the "sarah" or the bunch, and the "Warrick", "Nick" and "Grissom" of the bunch as well. I live in NY, but CSI: NY is just too boring for me, and it isn't relly that dark, i mean at night there are many lights, especially like in the broadway area (duh) but lights from all the apartment buildings, and they portray NY as darker than it really is...

Could you tell me who is the Sara, Warrick, Nick and Grissom on Miami? Because there is really no one like them on the show. Sara isn't like Calleigh, Warrick and Nick don't resemble Delko or Speedle and Horatio certainly isn't Grissom.

If you're inferring that Horatio's life revolves around Ray and that's all, I think you're wrong. In the first season a lot of back story is established for him. For instance his mom was murdered and he got into law enforcement because of that. He was on the bomb squad before becoming a CSI. Plus the season 4 spoilers add some more development. But I agree that other than Horatio and Calliegh, the characters have little development. Eric is pretty much a mystery other than that he took Speed's death pretty badly. Speed was pretty neglected as far as I know, except for that thing about being trained by Megan. Megan's husband died and she took a few months off being the biggest details of her life. Alexx has a family. Wolfe hasn't really been on long enough for much stuff to be known any way.

crap I didnt know Speed would die But anyway, I like CSI Miami, I really like horatio, why? Well it's simple, he is a good leader, he understands people can make mistakes, something Grisom isnt always that understanding about. Also Horatio shows emotions, and has a reall human side to him. Further more CSI Miami does show more around the crimescenes and the lab. One thing that bothered me in CSI LV is that they showed the ways they gather evidence to frequently and always the same things, at least thats what it felt like anyway, in CSI Miami they somehow managed to do it better. Dont get me wrong I still like CSI LV but I would never have guesed that I would like CSI Miami as good as I do now.

Sorry we spoiled you about Speed. But it's nice to find a kindred spirit where Miami and Horatio are concerned.
