Alex’s Note: Well, I wanted to give FM a shot, but I can’t really back away from Dantana. So this is what came out. A Flack/Lindsay, Danny/Lindsay, mostly-angsty-on-Flack’s-part-he-needs-a-hug story.
Disclaimer: The courts say that CSI:NY and all characters belong to CBS, but the voices in my head disagree.
Chapter 1
Maybe he was a sucker for mental torture, but he couldn’t take his eyes off them. Leaning against the cabinet, practically fucking each other with their clothes on; you’d think two people who observed for a living would realize the walls around them were made of clear glass. If Mac walked by they’d be toast.
Every time they touched, he felt as if he was being stabbed, but he never looked away. He watched painfully as her hands rested passionately on his chest. As he deepened the kiss. As she let him.
He wasn’t just hurt; he was angry. Messer was supposed to be his friend. Come on, Don, it’s not like he knew, he reminded himself, which was true. He hadn’t told anyone about his feelings for Lindsay. But it still felt like Danny was backstabbing him. Especially since he hadn’t caught them kissing like that before he was hospitalized.
He saw Lindsay reach for Danny’s zipper and decided he had to stop them there. Besides the fact that he couldn’t watch another second, they were still his friends and he wasn’t going to let them lose their reputations. He walked into the lab and arched an eyebrow as if he hadn’t seen everything. “Having fun?” he asked. They awkwardly pulled apart and Danny hurriedly zipped up before turning to face Flack. Both looked like deer caught in the headlights. “I take it Mac doesn’t know.”
”No, he doesn’t,” Danny said after a pause.
“Please don’t tell him Flack,” Lindsay asked. “We could both lose our jobs.”
He wanted to. He wasn’t exactly the tattletale type, but he was angry enough to. But he knew if he did and they got in trouble for it, he would regret it later. “Your secret’s safe with me.” He tried to smile but he couldn’t. Just find some place more private next time.” He looked at Danny. “You got the DNA results?”
“Oh, uhh, yeah, it belongs to a Holly Kruger.”
“Ah, so our killer’s a woman.”
“Could be. There’s a current address on here.” Flack walked over and copied it down. He noticed she had a few DUI’s on her record. The victim, Adam Brown was hit over the head with a half-empty bottle of wine. Things were already looking pretty bad for Holly Kruger.
“Alright, I guess I’ll have to have a talk with her,” he said.
“Okay, see ya later,” Danny said. “Hey Flack,” he called as he turned to go. “Thanks…for keeping quiet about me and Lindsay.”
He looked from Danny to Lindsay. Her gorgeous brown eyes looked at him with her own gratitude. Yeah, well, enjoy it, he thought. Cause that’s as close as you’ll get to the way she looks at him. “No problem,” he lied. He turned and left before they could say anything else.
Alex’s note: Danny will call her Montana at some points, but right now I didn’t think it seemed appropriate. This is a really short chappie, but tell me what you think.
