I thought it might be interesting to talk about family heritage.
My mom's dad's family came from Scotland. They came to Canada then to the US. My papa was the only one to be born outside Scotland. His uncle, so my great-great-uncle was in World War 1 wearing a kilt; in one battle he was carrying a New Testament in his shirt pocket that stopped a bullet.
My nanny, Papa's wife, was from the Southern states since before the Civil War. They were slave owners and my mom says we might have a little African blood in us.
My Dad's side of the family is German and Irish. They also stopped in Canada on the way to the US. So I have some Canadian blood and relatives. My Grandma grew up on a farm, that my Dad's cousin owns now.

Well, my dad's Chinese so that makes me half Chinese. My mom is an Orang Ulu, which means Orang Asli or "Natives" here in Malaysia. So, I'm half Chinese and half Orang Ulu but I don't really look Chinese.

My mom's side of the family sailed to the Americas in the 1600s and actually founded Conneticut, or part of it at least. They then moved down to North Carolina. My grandmother met my grandfather while he was stationed there and they got hitched and moved to Texas, where my mom was born. My dad's side of the family live in the Netherlands. My mom met my father while taking a tour of Europe. My mom got sidetracted and long story short My dad didn't let her leave until she agreed to marry him. They had my brother then me and then moved to Texas after my mom got homesick.

My mom and dad are both very Dutch, but I have a uncle who lives in Canada and a aunt who lives in France. But my grandparent (both sides) are from the Netherlands, just like my parents. So I'm Dutch in every inch of myself.

Same here. Most of my family lives without a 10 km range of my home.
But I do have a great aunt in Australia, a cousin in the UK and some distant relatives in Brazil.
My father is researching our family tree. So I might learn something interesting.

My grandfather was born in Poland. Somewhere around WO II he went to Austria, where he met my grandmother. They got my father and a few of my uncles and aunts. My grandmother already had 2 sons of her earlier marriage (she was a widow) and my grandfather already had a son with a Russian woman, but he never saw his kid.
My grandfather and grandmother decided to move to Holland. I don't exactly know why. My grandmother ran away from my granddad and moved to Germany, where she married a 15 year younger guy and got a daughter. My grandfather married a German woman as well, but they stayed in Holland. When they just got married and got pregnant of a baby girl, my grandfather suddenly died at age 47. So my aunt never got to know her father. My father met my mother here in Holland, so that makes me half Dutch, a quarter Polish and a quarter Austrian.
It's all very complicated, and I left a lot of stuff out because it was like a soap opera. The entire family has got good contact though! I love my family.

Wow, Fabian, that's a lot to keep track of.
My family's pretty messed up but we're close too. We all have different religions, my uncle's a felon, and my grown cousin lives with his parents. There's more too but it's embarrassing.
