Hey you!
I'm really cosy, I've always been. That's why I wanted to know how all of you (I mean we're from different countries with different traditions...) spend Chrismas. Who delivers the presents for you? And when do you celebrate then? What do you eat? How do you celebrate? Anything you remember :-)
Well, in Austria the "Christkind" brings the presents. It can be translated with "Christ child" but it isn't Jesus as a baby, but something like an angel... We usually celebrate on December 24th, in the evening. In the morning we start to prepare the food and decorate the tree and wrap up the presents for each other. When it's finally dark, my brother and I have to go up to dress up ourselves. We have to wait until we hear a little bell ring - which should show that the "Christkind" was just here. Then we gather around the Christmas tree (usually two of my aunts are with us), where we look at it. Then I read the story from the Bible, we sing some Christmas songs (like Holy Night...) and read another story. Finally we all exchange our presents. Then we eat fondue. There is a bowl with cooking soup above a fire and the meat is cooked in it. For me, because I am a vegetarian, there is a cheese fondue (like in Asterix ;-)). Yeah and then we just talk or are occupied with new presents and so on..
so, your turn ;-)

Since my parents are divorced, my mom asked my dad to come get a cup of coffee here on December 25... Christmas here is two days. December 25 and 26. Normally, we just buy presents for each other, when my bro and I were younger our parents bought some presents... this year, we'll make small lists (two, since there are three people) with presents that can cost up to fifteen euros. Then we exchange the lists (so you spend about thirty euros on presents) and you can pick something from the lists and buy it, or you can pick something cheaper than fifteen euros from the list and buy something else you think if fun so it adds up to fifteen euros... the exchanging of the lists goes in a way that you can have a list of yourself and someone else, or two of the same person, or I can have one of my mum and my bro... you get it? For dinner, we normally get the gourmet set from were it's at, but this year, we're going to make a real dinner. Mum's making lasagna (hers is heavenly!) and other stuff, I'm making salad (I'm the salad-pro) and my bro... he's doing nothing. Second Christmas Day we spend doing nothing... some people like to go to furniture stores but that's too busy, we think... and then the week after Christmas, but before New Year, we visit relatives...
And I got a Christmas Gala at December - something -! I'm so looking forward to it! Everybody wears nice dresses and suits and my dress is so pretty!
I love Christmas...

It's black... or rather a very dark grey. It's strapless and knee-long, it's got *dictionary calls it steels or busks* 'til where my waist begins, there it's got a small black ribbon with a small bow (like a bowtie). It's only sold in three stores in the Netherlands, that's Groningen, Utrecht and Amstelveen. I bought it in Utrecht, which is more than one and a half hour drive from Hellevoetsluis, so I'm probably the only one at school who has it. It can also be bought in England. Oh, wait, you can see it on this site: www.warehouse.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=2326. That's the English site of the store that sells them there.

hey Scorpii, I've watched your gala-dress, I think it's very nice. I'd say: have a great time at your gala;) At home, we usualy have the same schadule every year. We go to church, several times. And we visit my grandparents. Las two years we spended almost a whole day there, having drinks and a christmas dinner with the whole family, but my grandmother is pretty tired after a couple of hours, so it'll be only drinks this year I'm affraid. And there are not realy other plans as far as I know. I don't have a boyfriend, so I don't have to discuss were I'll be this Christmas;) (on the other hand, no romance this christmas:( )

Thanks, Christy! You go to church... morning or evening? I go to the mass at midnight, but not in the morning... your post suggests you do go in the morning. What religion?

hey scorpii, you thought right, I do go in the morning. I'm Christian. My parents raised me with it, so I'm going to church for as long as I can remember. I go to church every sunday, and with the holiday's (like christmas) a couple of times more. Do you follow a religion (or however you ask that question;) ) oowh btw. did you already have your gala??? if so, did you had a good time??

I'm having my gala wednesday... no I'm not religious but my mum's a christian... I'm not going to church every sunday but I do go to the mass at Christmas eve... once in a while I go to church on sunday but that's more because I think churches have a nice ambiance and some are really pretty but my mum's not a catholic and mostly it are the catholic churches that are so beautifully decorated. But I don't think I have to tell you that, even if you aren't catholic you probably have visited a catholic church once... I love to visit catholic churches when I'm on a holiday... I once was in the south of France, in Béziers, and the cathedral there, 'Cathédrale de Saint-Nazaire', that was so beautiful... There was one wall, that had, statue-like figures covered in leaf gold... pretty awesome it was

Wow, scorpii, that dress is more than beautiful. It looks like a princess' dress for me :-) I'm sure you'll have the most beautiful dress on your gala We don't go to church. Neither on Christmas, nor during the rest of the year. But we're also Christians and we do believe in God, but we simply don't go to church. *shrugs* My mom says that you don't have to go to church to be kinda linked with God, that everyone does it his own way - some go to church, others don't... but let's drop this...it's really getting too philosphic

we spend christmas eve with gram, though this year i am trying to find a church to go to- my family hasnt been since we left our old church a few years ago. christmas day we spend with gram (we all live in the same house) and this year, instead of a huge family gathering, we are doing it more like a christmas open house- less organised, with more light fare and people just dropping by when they can- it sounds so much nicer than the rush we used to do! the morning is just mum, gram, my fiance, and i, though sometimes my brother is home (not this year) and we open stocking gifts and exchange our presents up with gram with her fireplace going and all that- very old fashioned.
