Funny to know: Sam knows a lot on the history of writing (pens, paper, alphabets) and she has a file in which she keeps charts to 'translate' other alphabets into the Latin alphabet, which is the one we're using. (Alphabet charts: Greek, Arab, Cyrillic, Braille, Morse, ASCII, Hebrew, Hieroglyphics, Futhark Runes, Anglo-Saxon Runes, Norse Runes, Proto-Sinaïc and Early Phoenician).
Sam can read Cyrillic and Greek without her charts, though she doesn't speak either.
History: Sam was born in Hellevoetsluis in 1978. When she was about 14 years old, her parents divorced, but it was without any fight or something, they just didn't like eachother that much anymore. Her mom moved to Miami, and since then, she lived with her mom and her brother, and phoned her dad a lot. She did quite well at school, she passed high school and college and went to university. There, she started forensics, and a few years later, she worked at the Miami-Dade Crime Lab. In that lab, she followed a program for handwriting experts. After she finished it she kept working there as a handwriting expert until an accusation of tampering with evidence got her fired. She tampered with a suicide note in the O'Connor-case so that the killer could not be found. She lied to her supervisor that the killer had threatened to kill her fiancé if she didn't tamper with the evidence and her supervisor made sure the didn't get a rap sheet for it, though he did have to fire her. Sam moved to New York, where she got hired again. In a new case, with the other O'Connor-brother as victim, Sam had to tell her co-workers the story she told her now ex-supervisor before. Though when clues were there it had been her ex-fiancé had committed this murder again, she had to tell the truth and told Rhia that it had been her now ex-fiancé who had killed the O'Connor-brothers. Although Sam didn't want anyone to know more than was needed, she now is relieved her co-workers know the truth of the O'Connor-case and she doesn't have secrets for them. Except on her private life . Recently, she followed a 'Forensic psycho-analysis' course to make sure she can understand suspects better and to make sure she's of more help to the CSIs. Somewhat like profiling. She got the message she passed on December 3, 2006, when she on a suspension for the O'Connor-case.
