It's been 8 days since Luke lives alone in the house. It's pretty quiet, but he finds it nice to think things over. Did he and Karen do the right thing? They 'd call each other once in a couple of days, to make sure they are fine. Of course they tell each other that they are.
Luke is waiting at the gate on the airport, waiting for his brother. His name is Bo. Luke has had a lot of support from some close friends the last week, but he felt at his best when family was around. And Bo has always been his best friend. "Wow, you are in your own little world, aren't ya bro?", Luke heard behind him in Dutch. ''You really didn't see me?"
"Haha, hey Bo, it's so good to see you again."
After some small-talk in the car, Bo cut to the chase when they were in the house: "Hey Lucas, I'm really sorry that things didn't work out between you and Karen."
"Yeah, I'm sorry too. It was so unexpected. How are mom and dad handling it?"
"Not so wel, they loved you guys together. Not to mention that they also considered you to be there only chance for grandchildren.""
Luke laughed. "How are things in your love life? Is there a boyfriend?"
Bo answered: "Haha, I'm not sure. You know me."
Luke was the first person where Bo ever came out to, which kind of made their bond a bit stronger.
The brothers are quite different. Lukes hair is brown, Bo's blonde. Luke is more serious in life. Bo has got a serious job in an office, but has been fired because of insurbordinate behaviour a couple of times. He just can't commit to a job. Let alone to a boyfriend.
You couldn't see he was gay , not much people guessed he would be.
Lucas and Bo also have a younger sister, Simone. She had a bit of a foreign look, because her skin is a little brown and has brown hair. She defenitely is a 100% Dutch though. Simone broke with her family years ago. She started having 'wrong friends', and she ended up doing drugs. She supposedly lives in Amsterdam, but it was impossible for the Versteeg family to track her down. Last time Luke saw her was on his wedding. Let's just hope she isn't behind a window in the red light destrict.
"So, Lucas. I know that there was another man involved in your break up, but.. There wasn't another woman, was there?"
Luke didn't answer.
"No way?! Who is it?", Bo said excitedly.
"No, nothing happned between me and another woman. But there is a person that...kind of made clear to me that Karen is not the only woman I could love."
"Who is it?"
"It's a collague. Things are a bit strange between us. We defenitely do have chemistry, but... how grown up she acts, she is still 23 years old. I'm not sure if I wanna be that guy that divorces and then gets it on with a much younger girl, y'know."
"But you would want to get things on with her?", Bo asked.
"Yeah..."
"Perfect, when can I meet her?"
"Meet her? No way."
"Why not? Let's have dinner, just the three of us."
"I'm not sure if she'd like that. Or if I'd like it for that matter."
"Come on, it would make things less awkward between you when I'm there."
Luke sighed.
"Okay, I can ask her at work sometime."
"Cool, as long as it's this week, when I'm here. Now, are you gonna give me a beer, or what?"
Luke laughed.
