I respect people's opinions on Horatio but I love him. I love the character although I can admit sometimes his lines are cheesy.

I used to love him sooo much, but now... everyone has these great arguments why they do or do not love him, it's getting hard for me... I agree with almost every argument, so I guess either I am sick (it's not really me to agree with everything) or I am really beginning to dislike some of Horatio's behavior. I do think it's the last, since I used to love him more in the first two seasons. Maybe it's the posing, it's gone from bad to worse, too much. Or maybe he's just beginning to annoy me. Anyway, the writers HAVE to get something of the old Horatio back. otherwise they may lose some of their most loyal dutch fans. One of my friends who used to be a really loyal fan quit watching it 'cause Horatio annoyed her too much. I don't want that to happen. WHY AREN'T THERE ANY WRITERS READING THIS AND STARTING TO THINK: 'WE HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG!!!'

Well, I just can't see that in H's character as far as revenge. Just to out of character for him. I loved all three seasons but hated the way they rushed on 10-27. Should've played that one out over a period of time. Did you know though that David is always early for shooting to go over scripts? You'd think if he didn't like something he'd say so hmmmm?
Yes, he requested for H to come out of the lab. I know alot of ugly things have been said about him, especially the accusatio part but like I said before Grissom & Mac has done the same thing. ;D I just wish there'd been no H/M deal. Then I think H wouldn't have been like he turned out. I hated the finale. I've always loved him for how he'd protect his people but here they were being questioned by the Feds & well,it was like who cares.
I understand he'd lost Marisol but, there was nothing he could do about that but, he could about the Feds. I really hope S5 is so much better and there's no revenge even if it might be justified.

I love Horatio because he cares about the victims and he is passionate in his work. He gets the bad guy.

Hey, Recently (though I don't know how recent) CBS changed the character descriptions for Miami on their site. Since the new Horatio description doesn't really follow the old one but creates kind of a new history for Horatio, I've rewritten both into one, adding and removing a few things, to create a history that agrees with both stories. Here it is:
Raised in 1960s Miami, by age 16 Caine had experienced a lifetime: Civil Right marches, Cuban freedom flights, violent race riots, and the rise of drug culture.
His mother, a single parent in a time that did not favor such a definition of family, taught Caine that strength resided in your mind, not your hand. Though she was demanding, her love protected him until she was killed by his father. At 17, while other teenagers were learning to disco, Caine set out to help the police find her killer. By the time the murderer was sentenced to life, Caine knew he had found his calling to protect his city.
But Horatio knew he couldn't stay in Miami. He moved to New York. Caine entered the Police Academy.
As a rookie cop in New York City, Horatio Caine rose quickly through the departmental ranks to become one of the youngest officers to make Homicide Detective. It was here he vowed to protect and serve, until his partner became entangled in a personal scandal. In order to salvage his partner's career, Horatio packed his belongings, transferring to a new police department in the sunny paradise of Miami.
Still dedicated to the force, but seeking a job that would challenge him mentally as well as physical, Horatio transitioned onto the bomb squad. However, it wasn't until he had the opportunity to work with Crime Scene Investigation that Horatio found his true calling. After demonstrating his tenacity and intelligence, Horatio eventually took the reins and was promoted to Lieutenant, where he has proved himself to be both a courageous and thoughtful leader.
A three-dimensional thinker, Caine can rapidly understand how pieces fit into a puzzle. He knows that science ultimately provides the solution, but he also knows that there is more to crime-solving that blood spatter and DNA. When it comes to protecting his city, Horatio doesn't just trust science he trusts his gut. Horatio feels deeply responsible for the care and protection of those around him. Though he rarely lets his emotions interfere with the job, Horatio has shown time and time again that there's mmore to crime solving than blood spatter and DNA. And nothing will stop him from protecting the city he has grown to love, and from giving closure to those who seek it.

I am completely crazy over Horatio... He rocks my world completely... I know another message board people are calling him ugly and all sorts of bad names. In my opinion is the most gorgeous guy next to my husband in my opinion. I am sucker for redheads... I am one too as well lol
Horatio is passionate, caring, brave, and he looks after the victims. Also his team.

Oh-oh-oh I now have the episode 'Death Pool 100' on DVD and in that episode, Horatio states his full phone number! *Spoilers for the episode down here* He gets a call from the little boy, Tyler, and that call is coming from the gambling ship. He has a little talk with the mum and then he calls the Feds and asks them if one number in particular has been called from the ship a while ago. The Feds confirm that and ask whose number it is. Horatio ends the conversation and mumbles: "It's mine". Now, the phone number he tells the Feds: 305-555-1033. So, yay! Okay, so 555-numbers don't exist, but still, it's a funny thing to know... Lol nice phone number to write down when you don't want to write down your own

Hey I am new here! I have to say, it was pointed out somewhere recently, that someone was slightly annoyed at Horatio's stance lately. ALways to one side, OR standing the opposite way to the person he was talking too? I had not noticed this, till I saw the latest series, or bits of it, and I saw it straight away He never does actually stand face to face anymore with the person he is talking too? I have noticed also, no.....expressions, smiles, or winks, or maybe lifted eyebrows to get you sort of ...Ohhhhh - you know? Or little one liners to make you go 'Oh Horatio!' and maybe if you were stood near him, give him a slight slap for his comical quip? Nothing to really make you think, 'Oh this guy is great I cannot wait for next week to see some more?' THAT said, I think he IS great, and would never let anyone say anything different. BUt it did make me think, when this letter or whatever it was shown me?
