Well it may be because its only had one series but there doesnt seem to be much about any of the NY cast, by this i mean bios or profiles but hers what i've gathered so far:
Danny grew up in a family that was ridden with crime switching between this until he joined the Police, came top of his class at the police academy, much like the person who played him had a chance to go pro as a baseball player but injuried his wrist i think it was

Carmine injured his back, actually, so he went into acting. He still plays baseball a little bit, but doesn't play in any leagues or anything.
It's kinda funny because Adam Rodriguez, who plays Eric Delko in CSI:Miami, also had a similar experience; wanted to play professional baseball and injured his back. o.0

right this is gettin quite confusing in the show Danny injuried his wrist as he was going to play professional baseball, and then in real life Carmine was going to be a pro baseballer but he injuried his back, its probably where they got the idea for the plot

its probably where they got the idea for the plot Yeah, CSI seems to do that a lot, with almost all of thir actors. The CSIs all seem to be based very heavily on the actors who play them. Not that I mind. It's fun. ;D

They were going to do some kind of sport, were injured and thought they'd try acting instead. Just don't ask for any examples, lol!

I could probably list a couple, but i can't remember them, but Rachael is right it does seem to happen quite a lot. That they get injured playing sports and can't play it anymore so go into acting instead. I've got an example on the tip of my tongue i just can't think of it at the moment.

Haha... I was attracted to Danny because of his mysterious past concerning Tanglewood. His looks help too but it's his character that appeals to most people. He's stubborn and hot-headed and is a little rebellious yet somehow I want to keep watching him. You just can't take your eyes off of Danny. He also seems like the most realistic character there which some people can relate too.
Whatever it is, I'm not too sure what makes Danny tick but he seems like one of the characters worth giving your full attention to.
