I'M BACK! Now I'm feeling so good again, after two weeks of (very much) sun. You can sign me up as a labtech again, there doesn't have to be any 'paper' evidence or something, I can just walk and talk but anyway. Sign me up please!

I'm back, too. It's been only 10 days for me (with very little rain), but I'm relaxed. So...we'll have a CSI in troubles? Shame, I would've liked a dead body in a trunk ;D Anyway...do we have a sort of guide who *knows* the storyline and, well, guides us, if we drift off too far? Or do we throw all of our crazy ideas together and wait what develops as ever?

I'm in favour of a more structured approach as folks may have read from me before. But it means one of us will have to put in more work, and actually come up with a scenario. I've tentatively volunteered to have a go before now, though I wasn't thinking of an abduction either. I'm not sure how I would manage directing one of those. A body would be simpler. And also, the way I was thinking of directing the role play, there wouldn't be roles for any victims or suspects (I would effectively play all those), all you guys would be the CSIs/medical examiners/policemen and women! I was thinking of doing something like this: Setting out a crime scene in some detail, and then leaving you guys to discover the clues by your actions. eg. If I set the scene by saying. "There is a dead body lying on the floor by the desk", you might say "CSI X walks over to the body, checks the neck to see if there are any markings, and scrapes underneath the fingernails." I would reply by saying. "There are bruises on the neck, it looks like the woman was strangled. There is skin underneath the fingernails, which you should take to DNA analysis. You'll get the results later." CSI Y might arrive on the scene, and walk over to the body. They think to check the clothes. At which point I describe the clothes and any new evidence found... CSI Z arrives, and decides to roll the body over. I reveal something else underneath! You would need to ask questions too like "How old does the victim look?" or whatever else you would reasonably expect to know at that point in the investigation. Witnesses and suspects will appear who should be questioned. For anyone who has played the CSI computer games, I was thinking it could run in a similar way, except with me (or whoever) as the "gamemaster" instead of the computer. The difference would be, I hope, that with a real person gamemastering it would be more fun and flexible than a computer! H.

well yeah that sounds interesting too, but it will be very much work for the one 'guiding' it. Yeah, I know, it's summer holidays now, so time enough if you don't count vacations and stuff. It's worth trying, I'd say.

I think that with an abducted CSI, having a gamemaster would make it easier, not more complicated. I'm an advocate for Hamlet being our gamemaster... or at the very least having a gamemaster.

Whenever you're ready to start Case 6, feel free to so in the Crime Lab / Crime Scene thread.
Have fun!

Hmmm. Thanks for your confidence Brian, but I really don't think I want to try gamemastering an abduction... At least not on my first attempt at "gamemastering". I haven't given that type of scenario much thought, so I'm not sure how to do it. I can come up with ideas for simple murders and such like no problem I reckon. I can simply pilfer from my memory of shows like Monk, Without a Trace, Law & Order and of course CSI itself. I watch all those shows!
But Grave Danger is something of a one of a kind episode. It isn't immediately apparent to me how I would plot such a show.
I'm happy to start another thread though, separate from Case 6. A case with a body, LOL. A Gamemastered RPG as opposed to the freestyle Case 6...

I'm not sure we have enough CSI's for two cases, though. It'd be wonderful to have hundreds of members on different teams all working different cases... as popular as this board is, we're not quite there yet! Still, if nobody wants to gamemaster Case 6, we can just do it the way we've always done it.
Looks like I'm getting abducted, so someone BETTER get to work thinking of how it's going to happen. When I'm not working crime scenes, I'm in my apartment, unpacking or crunching programs away on my computer...

But do people have to "sign up" to the RPGs at all? Why can't anyone just join as they wish? And as long as someone reckons they can keep track of what is going on in two cases, why not let them take part in both cases. ;-)
But having said this I don't think I'm not going to spend time right now working out a second scenario as we have Case 6 as you point out, and summertime is never a good time for online activity...

The rules have been set; one case at a time. A double case in one case (like we did last year) took even longer to finish because
1. Members are confused about what's happening. 2. Some members simply don't have the time to go online everyday; hence, lagging one of the two cases.
They do, so that we could keep track on them and make sure that they're participating frequently.

I've written something before and I want your opinion on it. Please? "can there be a newspaper reporter who has something against the lab? Her name Lizzy Hibiscus?"

Well, first I like the idea of the reporter, scorpii and we could "use" her for the abduction, too and second I think, that we should do case 6 the usual way and maybe if Hamlet wants to try out being gamemaster afterwards (with another case) we could do so...
