She knew that she wouldn't rest until she saw her sister again. Taking her cell phone out, she looked at the time. It was nearly an hour since she had gotten the text from Ryuko. Knowing full well that it could get worse than it already was, she closed her eyes and tried to concentrate on the task that was on hand.

Sam quickly flipped through the papers Brian had left, the ones with the codes in it. What the heck did it all mean? Suddenly, a soft knock on the door caught her attention. Lilly. "Come in, I could use some help. Ehm, better yet..." Sam paused for a second. "You know what. We should get to the evidence vault to retrieve the boxes containing the files and the evidence of the cases that involved James and Emilio and Paulo. Let's go get those first, before we crack these codes."

"Sure" Lilly said. She walked with Sam to get the boxes.

As Zora walked down the hall she wondered about this case. She had heard what happened with Brian and Jade and was worried about her co-workers. Zora knew how quickly things could go from bad to worse. As she got to the door she looked in and said, "Rhia? You got a minute?"
When she got a nod Zora began. "I found more out about our guard that left the foot print. His name is James Burkatt and he has worked for the prison for about six months, before that he doesn't exist. I talked to some of the people from the prison and finally found a picture of him to see if I can get any matches from and I learned one more thing. James Burkatt has may have ties to Shen Jing Bing." Zora finished with a frown.

"That's the best trace by now we got!", Rhia said enthusiastically and beamed at Zora. "Maybe we can figure out his last known address - if he worked at the prison, he must've had his data taken...", she murmured, while typing into her computer. There was a beep and with a smile on her face she turned the monitor, so that Zora could read the address flashing there.
"Let's hope he hasn't moved already...", she murmured while getting up and grabbing her coat. "Brian's away with the SWAT guys, but we can take Officer Tyler with us...", she added after a minute.
"So, which car will we take?", Rhia said and she sounded as optimistically as ever. Somehow, that new lead had given her back the strenght she usually had. And the message, that Brian was well...

Zora smiled glad that they had another lead on this crazy case. "Your car's fine." Zora said.

Before Rhia started the engine, she hesitated for a second. Should she tell Brian? But she decided against it, knowing well that he needed all his concentration at hunting down that Chinese gangster boss... So she shook her head that her curls were flying around and finally started the engine. They would meet Officer Tyler there... she had known Jeremy since her first day, when she had been late and couldn't find the right office, he was the one to show her the way.
A smile spread on her lips and she relaxed, when she pulled into the driveway of a shabby-looking house.
"So, here we are.", she stated, eyeing the building in front of them suspiciously. "Doesn't look very clean...", she grimaced and got out of the car.
"Hey Rhia!", someone called out and she turned sharply.
"Hell, Jerry! NEver ever frighten me like that again...", but Rhia was laughing at the officer.
"Shall we get in?", he asked drawing his gun. Rhia shot a glance at Zora, nodding.

One of the SWAT members tapped her on the shoulder and she opened an eye. "You wanted something?" she asked, turning to the one who tapped her.
He nodded slightly. "Yeah, I wanted to ask you a question."
She sighed and closed her eye. "You wanted to know why I brought my katanas when I talked to my brother."
The others all turned towards her as if they were wondering the same thing.
"I brought them along because I feel more comfortable when I have them with me. And I also knew that he would try and pull something like he did. I always had the fastest reaction time back in Japan. I know that I'm not a ninja and that this is New York, but still it's an old habit that I can't break. You guys understand, right? That you feel naked without your weapon with you? That's how I feel."
The one who had nodded smiled. "Yeah, I do. And I was wondering if I could see one. I've never seen a katana up close."
She laughed and handed one to him. "Be careful with it though. It's older than anyone here."
He took it and gazed in wonder at the kanji on the blade. "What does it say?"
She smiled. "It says 'May the moon guide your steps.' while the other blade says 'May the shadows hide you from enemy eyes'."
He handed it back to her and she put it away. "I only fight to defend myself and those who I'm responsible for. I never fight for revenge or just for fun. Everything I do has a reason."

The ride was quick and quiet, Zora knew that like herself Rhia was thinking. When they arrived Zora immediately saw that the house was not taken care of and when Rhia commented on it Zora just nodded her agreement. After meeting their escort in the yard they all walked toward the house, and Zora had an uneasy feeling but pushed it away and thought about the task at hand.

Sam walked past the boxes, checking case numbers and names. Finally, she and Lilly had found the boxes they needed. "All right, there we go. Let's find out what they've been talking about." Sam grabbed the first sheet Brian had printed. It was a print of a part of a forum thread on a website called crimepage.com. She knew the site a bit - she sometimes visited it whenever there was something about organized crime that had happened, because crimepage had this habit of collecting as many articles about crimes and puzzling them together to come up with a decent article with as many details as possible. And crimepage.com was rumored to have sources in the crime circuit - it was no wonder Brian had checked on this site, since many crime lab employees knew about the site. "Okay, what have we got here. Oh, there's something: Blackbird says that he and Samurai should meet at the Waterside." Sam grinned at Lilly. "I didn't think it'd be that easy. Blackbird's obviously James, since James's favorite bird's a blackbird. And I guess that Samurai must be Ryuko. Jade's brother. But where's the Waterside?" Sam carefully thought over her memories to the previous cases. Could it be? It'd be very obvious, wouldn't it? But isn't the best place to hide something in plain sight? She quickly flipped through the report of case 06-0729. The abduction of Brian. And there she found it: the location in which they had held Brian. Could the Waterside be the place where Emilio and Paulo Marquez had held Brian? It was close to sea and it was a familiar place to them for sure. And then another thing popped into Sam's mind: Lizzy Hibiscus. She'd been in jail as well after Brian's kidnapping, and she was the sister of the Marquez brothers. Shocked, Sam looked at Lilly. "I think I know where their headquarters is. And someone should keep an eye on Lizzy HIbiscus." she paused for a moment. "I should call Rhia this very moment. That may also mean Shen Jing Bing lost two men, because Brian shot them when he was abducted. It could be they'll go after him once again. I mean, it might be that they won't but rather safe than sorry, right?" Sam dialled a familiar number. "Rhia? I know you're already incredibly busy, but I may have located Shen Jing Bing's head quarters or at least a meeting point. And when you see Brian, tell him to sleep with one eye open. They might be after him, since he killed two men when he was abducted. I'm afraid they might go after him. And I'll call prison to say they have to keep an extra eye on Lizzy Hibiscus, perhaps Shen Jing Bing'll try to get her free as well, since she's the sister of the Marquez brothers. After all, her real name is Elisa Marquez." She sighed for a moment. Could this case get any more complicated? She then looked at Lilly. "Will you please look for more messages by Blackbird and Samurai? Perhaps we can find out the nicknames of the others as well. Whoever reacted in codes to them might be a Shen Jing Bing member." Oh. This was huge.

It was then that Brian made his entrance into the crime lab known by swearing loudly into his cellphone before slamming it shut. He smelled of gunpowder and sweat as he walked into the main hallway. He didn't see Rhia anywhere, so he decided to inform Sam in person and text Rhia with his report. He found Sam digging through the paperwork, and he sat down roughly into a chair and opened up his phone again to text Rhia while he spoke.
"The CSIs they sent out to the warehouse couldn't find anything helpful on the dead men, aside from tattoos we've seen before, and unregistered, illegal weapons probably imported from Europe. Nothing traceable. We are waiting now for the SWAT team to bring back Ryuku and for Jade to bring back her sister," he said in a weary voice. He hit 'send' on his phone, and looked to Sam.
She had that look in her eyes, that look that meant she was on to something rather juicy.

Sam looked at Brian. She didn't await Rhia's response but right after informing her and Lilly, she ended the call and just looked at Brian. She felt slightly worried, but also excited about what she had found out. It was quite confusing. "Brian, I know it's not of much use when I tell you to be careful, but I still want to tell you to be very careful. Lilly and I found out that they will meet at a place they call 'Waterside'. Since Emilio and Paulo Marquez are involved, my best guess is that they mean the place close to the sea - where you were being held. I'm quite afraid they might come after you, since you killed two men back then - I think those men were Shen Jing Bing members. Or my memory is blurry and I'm wrong here. You killed a few, didn't you?" Sam paused.

Brian looked at his feet. Of all the many, many things he had done with his life, killing those men - even in self defense - was the one thing that burned in his memory like a white-hot ember that refused to fizzle out. He decided to dodge the question.
"Alright, I can send some men there to arrest them, but that is just one meeting place, and I highly doubt that it is their headquarters. And we all know they will never talk, unless of course I do something drastic... and, I am already wound up enough to do it, but I wouldn't dare endanger the lab. So we need more info. And what's the deal with those razor blades from the prison? Anyone worked on those yet? If not, I can get started on that myself while we wait for our criminals to come in."

Sam nodded. "I guess you're right. It's too shabby to be a head quarters, I know James only too well. He'd seriously hate it. Lilly and I will look into the other things you printed, and I think you might also be right about the razor blades thing. Uhm, just be careful, okay? I'll try to figure out more, but if the two men you killed were Shen Jing Bing, they just might come after you. I mean, La Cosa Nostra isn't the only thing that knows Vendetta. I think it's hard enough already with Jade's sister being kidnapped by her brother." Somehow, she felt awful. What was up? What was wrong that made her feel this numb, avoiding all possible dangers and excitement? Was it because she was truly that scared of James? Or was it something else? It had never been this way in any other case - then again, no other case had ever been like this, involving the crime lab in such a way. Sam looked at Brian and then at Lilly. "Okay. Let's get this thing going for real this time. From now on, I'm gonna take everything that Shen Jing Bing does very personal. If they hurt my friends, they hurt me and I shall hurt them back. C'mon." She grabbed the papers and a marker, highlighting every code-like word on the papers. "Lilly, will you find out about Blackbird and Samurai? And who the hell is in charge of that website?" Ah. This felt way better.

"I'll keep working on it" Lilly said. "And Brian, please be carefull!" She kept searching through the forum. Unbelievable how many crap was on there! But she had to keep looking. For Brian. There had to be something about Blackbird and Samurai? Then her eye fell on something. 'I, DarkKnight, challenge Blackbird to show up at the waterside, bringing a beloved of his companion Samurai.' So that would mean that Jade's sister was held at the same place where Brian once was held. "Sam, I think I've found something" she said. "'I, darkknight, challenge Blackbird to show up at the waterside, bringing a beloved of his companion Samurai.' That would mean there's another person involved, and that Jade's sister is held at that same spot where Brian was held. Do you think I'm right?"
